“Never Stop Learning”: Why Claire Chose TrichoCare’s Level 5 in Advanced Trichology

“Never stop learning, that’s my mantra”, says trichologist and stylist Claire Gould. Claire has just signed up to TrichoCare Education’s new ITEC accredited Level 5 Certificate in Advanced Trichology. “I can’t wait to get started”, she tells us.

From Level 4 success to Level 5 ambition

Claire is no stranger to TrichoCare – in fact, she’s one of our many success stories. Two years ago, she became the 100th student to successfully complete our Level 4 Certificate. “I absolutely loved the course. And as soon as I finished I was begging TrichoCare to offer a Level 5, because I wanted to learn even more – and now I can.” Achieving a recognised qualification such as the Certificate in Advanced Trichology at Level 5 is a great step forward for Claire.

Claire is a highly experienced and well-travelled hairdresser. She owned a salon in New Zealand for some years, before returning to the UK to run the pHd organic salon in Malvern, the town where she once started out as an apprentice. Notably, pursuing the Advanced Trichology Level 5 Certificate will enhance her impressive credentials.

Building a new trichology practice by the sea

Now, she’s embarking on a brand new journey. To coincide with starting the Level 5 course, Claire is setting up a dedicated trichology practice based in a wellness centre in Teignmouth on the Devon coast. At the same time, Claire will also be practising trichology back in Malvern and keeping the pHd brand alive by working there as a freelance hairdresser. In addition, Claire’s decision to study for a Level 5 Certificate in Advanced Trichology reflects her commitment to expanding her expertise.

“I’m thrilled to be realising my dream of living and working by the sea – this is my new life! I’ll still be spending time in Malvern, but I’m excited to start a new business, especially as I’ll be working side by side with other health professionals. And as I learn more, the more I can advise my clients, old and new, with even greater confidence.” Studying for the Advanced Trichology Level 5 Certificate will undoubtedly help Claire advise clients with enhanced confidence.

A personal mission to understand hair and scalp health

Claire has a very special and personal reason for wanting to help clients with scalp and hair issues. “When I was in New Zealand, I went into anaphylactic shock after applying hair straightening product to a client” she says. “I was in hospital for hours, and I was absolutely terrified.” This experience motivates Claire to deepen her expertise with qualifications such as the Level 5 Certificate in Advanced Trichology.

That traumatic event led Claire to completely rethink her career. “I decided to find out everything I could about the ingredients in hair products, and the harmful effects, like my allergic reaction, they can have. And learn too about healthier alternatives. It became my passion.” As a result, she chose a new path in advanced trichology and began aiming to achieve the Level 5 Certificate.

Looking ahead: Claire’s goals as an advanced trichology practitioner

That’s how Claire began her trichology journey, which she’s still continuing today. So what does she hope to gain from going to the next level in her trichology studies? “My real aim is to be the best in my field. So I’m ambitious to improve my skills, extend my knowledge, and learn even more about the deep, underlying causes of clients’ hair and scalp conditions.” To support these goals, pursuing Advanced Trichology through the Level 5 Certificate will be invaluable.

And the need for the skills that Claire, and the trichology profession as a whole, can offer is a growing one. As she says: “There’s so much anxiety about health and well-being these days – people are stressed trying to balance work, diet, family, lifestyle. The effect on the hair and scalp can be devastating. And there’s so much misinformation all over socials. Plus, increasingly, we’re seeing more and more younger clients presenting with serious issues. They all need informed, experienced professional guidance.” Increasingly, professionals holding a Level 5 Certificate in Advanced Trichology are sought-after due to their specialised knowledge.
