Case Study: Guy Morton
“I think it’s a fantastic Course – well-structured, informative, detailed and stimulating. You do have to put the time in – I’d say I average around 8 hours study time a week. So it’s important to be disciplined, and plan to balance your studies with all the other things in your life.”
Guy runs Sandra’s Salon in Dingwall in the far north of Scotland. In addition to his extensive training, Guy has also benefited from studying trichology online, enhancing his expertise in hair and scalp health. Sandra’s is a family business, started by Guy’s mother nearly 50 years ago. Guy trained in Glasgow with the multi award-winning Rainbow Room International, and in London at the world-renowned Vidal Sassoon Academy. He then returned to his home town to take over his mother’s salon.
What encouraged you to study Trichology?
For Guy, learning more about problems of the hair and scalp was an obvious next step. It helped him build both his personal skills and the range of services he can offer his clients: “I decided to get into trichology because it’s a great business opportunity. Several of my clients routinely complained of some kind of hair or scalp problem. It’s distressing for them, and it was really frustrating for me not being able to help them.” This led him to explore options for studying trichology online.
Guy started his trichology journey by studying TrichoCare Education’s Introduction to Trichology Course. He then moved swiftly onto the Level 4 Course. He’s currently gaining crucial insights through his online studies: “I think it’s a fantastic Course – well-structured, informative, detailed and stimulating. You do have to put the time in – I’d say I average around 8 hours study time a week. So, it’s important to be disciplined, and plan to balance your studies with all the other things in your life.”
What did you find helpful about the online course?
What has particularly helped Guy is the support and feedback he’s had from the Course tutors: “They’ve been super-helpful – very quick to get back to me when I’ve had a query, guiding me with advice on Zoom calls, and generally reassuring me that I can do this!” The online nature of the course has made it feasible for him to advance his knowledge from afar. He has truly experienced the benefits of studying trichology online.

Guy plans to become a member of The Association of Registered Trichologists (ART) when he’s completed the Course. He will start offering trichology services straight away to clients: “There are very few trichologists in our area, so I’m confident that establishing a trichology consultation service in salon will be an important and attractive boost to our services,” he says.
It doesn’t matter where you are in the world. Studying online for an accredited qualification in trichology is both achievable and rewarding. As Guy in the highlands of Scotland says: “I’d recommend the Course to anyone who’s interested in developing their business and serving their clients better,” he says, “it does take patience and hard work. You have to manage your time well, but you’re adding to your knowledge and improving your skills. It’s definitely worthwhile.” For those considering a similar path, studying trichology online could be a valuable endeavour.
